Protein

Albumin — optimal range for vegans & vegetarians

The main plasma protein.

Optimal range

4–5 g/dL

How a value is read

Deficient< 3.5 g/dL
Below optimal3.5 – 4 g/dL
Optimal4 – 5 g/dL
Above optimal5 – 5.5 g/dL
Markedly high> 5.5 g/dL

Bands are given in the marker's canonical unit; values in other units are converted automatically.

Why it matters on a plant-based diet

An indirect marker of protein status. Low albumin may indicate inadequate protein on a poorly planned vegan diet (few legumes/soy).

A single marker decides nothing

Deficiencies mask one another: high folate hides low B12, inflammation inflates ferritin, low zinc mimics iron deficiency. VEGALYSIS reads the whole picture and explains the links.
