Liver

AST — optimal range for vegans & vegetarians

An enzyme (aspartate aminotransferase).

Optimal range

≤ 34 U/L

How a value is read

Optimal≤ 34 U/L
Above optimal34 – 50 U/L
Markedly high> 50 U/L

Bands are given in the marker's canonical unit; values in other units are converted automatically.

Why it matters on a plant-based diet

A liver and muscle enzyme. Intense exercise can transiently raise it. Persistent elevation warrants a liver work-up.

A single marker decides nothing

Deficiencies mask one another: high folate hides low B12, inflammation inflates ferritin, low zinc mimics iron deficiency. VEGALYSIS reads the whole picture and explains the links.
