Liver
Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) — optimal range for vegans & vegetarians
An enzyme of liver, bone and intestine.
Optimal range
40–120 U/L
How a value is read
| Deficient | < 30 U/L |
| Below optimal | 30 – 40 U/L |
| Optimal | 40 – 120 U/L |
| Above optimal | 120 – 150 U/L |
| Markedly high | > 150 U/L |
Bands are given in the marker's canonical unit; values in other units are converted automatically.
Why it matters on a plant-based diet
A liver and bone enzyme. Low ALP sometimes with zinc or magnesium deficiency; high with liver/bone issues.
A single marker decides nothing
Deficiencies mask one another: high folate hides low B12, inflammation inflates ferritin, low zinc mimics iron deficiency. VEGALYSIS reads the whole picture and explains the links.
