Metabolic (blood sugar)
HbA1c (glycated hemoglobin) — optimal range for vegans & vegetarians
The fraction of hemoglobin bound to glucose.
Optimal range
≤ 5.6 %
How a value is read
| Optimal | ≤ 5.6 % |
| Above optimal | 5.6 – 6.5 % |
| Markedly high | > 6.5 % |
Bands are given in the marker's canonical unit; values in other units are converted automatically.
Why it matters on a plant-based diet
Average blood sugar over ~3 months. A plant-based diet usually lowers it; ≥5.7% is prediabetes, ≥6.5% diabetes. With ApoB and hs-CRP it captures core metabolic risk.
A single marker decides nothing
Deficiencies mask one another: high folate hides low B12, inflammation inflates ferritin, low zinc mimics iron deficiency. VEGALYSIS reads the whole picture and explains the links.
