Metabolic (blood sugar)
Fasting glucose — optimal range for vegans & vegetarians
Blood glucose concentration after fasting.
Optimal range
75–99 mg/dL
How a value is read
| Deficient | < 70 mg/dL |
| Below optimal | 70 – 75 mg/dL |
| Optimal | 75 – 99 mg/dL |
| Above optimal | 99 – 125 mg/dL |
| Markedly high | > 125 mg/dL |
Bands are given in the marker's canonical unit; values in other units are converted automatically.
Why it matters on a plant-based diet
Fasting blood sugar. 100–125 mg/dL is prediabetes, ≥126 diabetes. Usually normal on a whole-food plant-based diet; HbA1c is better for trends.
A single marker decides nothing
Deficiencies mask one another: high folate hides low B12, inflammation inflates ferritin, low zinc mimics iron deficiency. VEGALYSIS reads the whole picture and explains the links.
