Lipids (cholesterol)

LDL cholesterol — optimal range for vegans & vegetarians

Low-density lipoprotein cholesterol.

Optimal range

≤ 100 mg/dL

How a value is read

Optimal≤ 100 mg/dL
Above optimal100 – 160 mg/dL
Markedly high> 160 mg/dL

Bands are given in the marker's canonical unit; values in other units are converted automatically.

Why it matters on a plant-based diet

The main causal factor in atherosclerosis. A plant-based diet lowers it; a prevention target is ≤100 mg/dL (lower for high risk).

A single marker decides nothing

Deficiencies mask one another: high folate hides low B12, inflammation inflates ferritin, low zinc mimics iron deficiency. VEGALYSIS reads the whole picture and explains the links.
