Lipids (cholesterol)
Total cholesterol — optimal range for vegans & vegetarians
Total blood cholesterol.
Optimal range
≤ 200 mg/dL
How a value is read
| Optimal | ≤ 200 mg/dL |
| Above optimal | 200 – 240 mg/dL |
| Markedly high | > 240 mg/dL |
Bands are given in the marker's canonical unit; values in other units are converted automatically.
Why it matters on a plant-based diet
Usually lower on a plant-based diet than in omnivores — a plus for the heart. Judge together with LDL, HDL and ApoB.
A single marker decides nothing
Deficiencies mask one another: high folate hides low B12, inflammation inflates ferritin, low zinc mimics iron deficiency. VEGALYSIS reads the whole picture and explains the links.
