Minerals
Copper (serum) — optimal range for vegans & vegetarians
A trace element, cofactor of enzymes and iron metabolism.
Optimal range
80–140 µg/dL
How a value is read
| Deficient | < 70 µg/dL |
| Below optimal | 70 – 80 µg/dL |
| Optimal | 80 – 140 µg/dL |
| Above optimal | 140 – 160 µg/dL |
| Markedly high | > 160 µg/dL |
Bands are given in the marker's canonical unit; values in other units are converted automatically.
Why it matters on a plant-based diet
Copper is required for iron metabolism. Long-term high-dose zinc without copper causes copper deficiency → anemia and neurological issues.
A single marker decides nothing
Deficiencies mask one another: high folate hides low B12, inflammation inflates ferritin, low zinc mimics iron deficiency. VEGALYSIS reads the whole picture and explains the links.
Analyse my labsUnits
- µg/dL
- µmol/L× 6.37 → µg/dL
VEGALYSIS accepts any of these units and converts the value to the canonical one.
